The Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) is a free and confidential service for people (primarily on Social Welfare Payments and Low Incomes) with debt and money management problems
Tallaght MABS wishes to recruit a committed, enthusiastic and energetic Temporary Full Time Office Administrator for our office. The contract will be for a maximum period of six months.
The person appointed to the role of Office Administrator (temporary) will act as a welcoming first point of contact for all those who engage with the service.
The successful candidate will be expected to:

A vacancy will shortly become available for a part-time Money Advisor, based in 32 Francis Street, Dublin 8 and also servicing our outreach services.
The successful candidates will ideally:

Liffey South West MABS is centrally based in the south inner city of Dublin 8, and also provides two outreach Services in the Rialto and Inchicore areas. It has the highest density of local authority housing in the country. There is also a mixture of rental and private accommodation within the area. Our referrals come from various sources e.g. Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Community Welfare, Drug Addiction Services, Homeless Agencies and nearby hospitals
JOB SUMMARY:
The Money Advisor will provide an independent, confidential money advice service to facilitate clients to deal with debt problems and to become financially independent in the long term and provide debt prevention education to the target group.
DUTIES:
To support the Co-ordinator in the development, implementation and co-ordination of policy, best practice and procedures within the context of the aims and objectives of the MABS programme
To provide information, advice, support and advocacy in relation to consumer debt
To advise, on a one to one basis, clients who are in difficulty with debts and to negotiate with creditors on their behalf, where necessary
To maintain complete and accurate records
To initiate and monitor Special Accounts
To keep up to date with legislation, policy and practices and to attend training courses, seminars and meetings as may be directed by the Co-ordinator and/or Management Committee

The Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) is a national, free, confidential and independent service, providing advice and support to people in debt or in danger of getting into debt. Each MABS company is rooted within the communities they serve and staff work with clients to enable them to cope with immediate debt problems and assist them to develop good money management skills.
MONEY ADVICE CO-ORDINATOR, CORK MABS
A vacancy exists for a Money Advice Co-ordinator, whose role is to co-ordinate the management of Cork MABS. Candidates must display empathy with those who find themselves in financial difficulty. Key knowledge and skills required include excellent management, communication and organisational skills; knowledge, understanding and experience of money management, consumer debt and financial services, and the MABS service in particular; familiarity with the provision of an advice, support and advocacy service, and IT skills.

Job Summary:
The Money Advice Co-ordinator will co-ordinate the management of MABS in providing an independent, confidential money advice service to facilitate clients to deal with debt problems and to become financially independent in the long term and provide debt prevention education to the target group.
Overall, duties may include:
To maintain an appropriate one-to-one client caseload as a Money Adviser while prioritising co-ordination issues.
To act as a resource to the Board and be responsible for matters related to the management and planning of the service.
To co-ordinate the work of the Board, and assist in the development, implementation and co-ordination of policy, best practice and procedures within the context of the aims and objectives of the MABS programme.
To initiate and assist, in conjunction with the Board, in the collection and collation of material for the preparation of reports, submissions and policy work.
To ensure, in co-operation with the Treasurer, that effective management and accountability procedures for the budget are in place.
To be responsible for supervision of staff in conjunction with the appropriate Board Member(s).
To be responsible for the distribution of workloads and supervision of work.
To act as a conduit in the flow of communication between Board and Staff and to foster a sense of team, ensuring that there is a flow of communication between the Staff through regular team meetings and other appropriate means.
To act as a conduit in the flow of information between MABS structures nationally and the local service.

Job Summary:
The Money Adviser will provide a free, independent, confidential money advice service to facilitate clients to deal with debt problems and to become financially independent in the long term. Money Advisers also provide debt prevention education to the target group.
Overall, duties may include:
To support the Co-ordinator in the development, implementation and co-ordination of policy, best practice and procedures within the context of the aims and objectives of MABS.
To provide advice, support and advocacy in relation to money management and consumer debt.
To advise, on a one-to-one basis, clients who are in debt, or in danger of getting into debt.
To negotiate with creditors on behalf of clients, where necessary.
To maintain complete and accurate records.
To operate MABS’ special accounts in compliance with organisational policy.
To keep up to date with legislation, policy and practice and to attend training courses, seminars and meetings as may be directed by the Co-ordinator and/or Management Committee.
To support the Co-ordinator with the preparation of reports, submissions and social policy work.
To support the Co-ordinator in the planning and implementation of a Community Education / Debt Prevention Programme.
To support the building and maintaining of effective working relationships with other agencies and organisations for the benefit of the MABS clientele.
To participate in the development and delivery of strategies to promote the service through the use of local media, literature, exhibitions and other appropriate channels.
To perform other duties, appropriate to the role, as may be required and agreed with the Co-ordinator and/or Management Committee from time to time, and may be specific to the requirements of a particular MABS company.
Person Specification
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
Leaving Certificate with a minimum of three (3) years experience of working in the area of consumer debt, money management or other relevant setting.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Knowledge and understanding of the causes and effects of debt, and the money advice process, particularly to the disadvantaged and vulnerable in society.
An understanding of money management, consumer debt and financial services.
Demonstrated strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
A strong awareness of quality customer service.
Excellent interpersonal understanding.
Experience of working in an advice / advocacy role with a diversity of individuals and groups, and particularly with people experiencing difficulty in coping with their situation.
Proven ability to represent and negotiate on a client’s behalf.
Ability to work effectively both on own initiative and as a member of a small team.

Purpose of Role:
To address the needs of Management and Staff in MABS regionally and nationally.
To assist in the co-ordination and development of the Money Advice and Budgeting Service at national and regional levels.
To develop contacts with appropriate groups and associations in the voluntary and statutory sectors in order to achieve the objectives of MABS NDL.
To work as part of a team in developing and delivering a model for best practice for casework support to MABS services.
Regional Responsibilities:
The provision of casework technical support to a number of MABS offices in Dublin and surrounding Counties*.
To identify and make recommendations on national standards of service in MABS and to promote agreed standards at local and regional levels.
To assist Management Committees in co-ordinating audits of quality control as required by them.
To assist in identifying training needs and assist in delivery of training of MABS Staff and Management.
To co-ordinate, organise and participate in networking at Regional Level and to progress issues arising therefrom at National Level.
Specific Responsibilities:
Provide information and casework technical support for Money Advisers to assist them in providing the highest quality service.
Document the issues identified by Money Advisers in the course of their work and draw on this information to identify policy issues, training needs and best practices.
Promote quality standards in the Money Advice and Budgeting Service.
Document & communicate, on an ongoing basis, developments in legislation, welfare payments and the financial sector.
Undertake case reviews with staff in the designated Services/Regions.
Provide guidance and feedback to MABS staff in relation to work practices and identify and further develop best practice approaches to money advice.
Develop a national MABS library of resources and written material.
Regular and structured liaison, cooperation and project work with the other National Development Officers and with other members of the MABS NDL team.
Undertake other duties as assigned by MABS NDL.
Reporting:
The National Development Officer will report directly to the Business Manager of MABS NDL.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Relevant third level qualification or equivalent educational / training attainment
Strong technical competence based on a minimum of 5 years relevant experience of working in a senior advisory capacity in the areas of money management and/or debt counselling / debt mediation in relation to consumer debt, or other relevant area of work.
An understanding of the work of the Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS).
An understanding of over indebtedness; its causes, and the steps that people can take to address it.
A comprehensive understanding of the Irish social and public services infrastructure.
An understanding of the application of relevant legislation and Court proceedings relating to personal debt.

General Terms and Conditions
Salary scale: €50,014 - €65,587 (inclusive of two Long Service Increments). It is anticipated that new entrants to the MABS service will be appointed on the first point of the scale.
This position is fulltime (35 hours per week) and permanent (subject to (i) successful completion of probationary period and (ii) continued Government funding.)
The post will be based in MABS NDL’s premises in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.
