National Traveller Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS)

National Traveller MABS is the leading advocate for the financial inclusion of Travellers in Ireland. As a Traveller specific organisation, we advocate on behalf of the many Travellers in Ireland who cannot access affordable savings and credit and who rely on moneylenders. We work to change policy and practice which excludes Travellers from financial services. We also aim to increase financial capability within the Traveller Community.

We wish to recruit a

National Support and Development Worker (Permanent)

 (35 hrs per week)

 

Key skills include strong communication skills and experience in community development, facilitation, building organised networks to empower the community, along with written, oral, and IT skills. Candidates must demonstrate a clear understanding and knowledge of the causes of financial exclusion, particularly for the Traveller community and how this exclusion directly affects Travellers. They must also understand how community development can address these issues. Experience of working within the Traveller community is desirable.

This position is based in Finglas but NTMABS are currently piloting hybrid working.  As the organisation has a national profile, candidates must be prepared to travel and access to transport is essential.

Salary scale is currently €35,831 – €51,616 (including 2 long service increments).  It is expected that all new entrants to National Traveller MABS will be appointed at point one of the salary scale. National Traveller MABS operates an incremental credit process for appointments higher than point one. This process is applicable to new entrants into National Traveller MABS and is based on the Person Specification for the role, which are assessed against employment history and information in the submitted application form only.  The decision on whether or not to award an incremental credit is a decision made by the Board and is subject to the availability of funding.
