Provident Financial to Stop Trading in Ireland

Provident Financial, the largest moneylender in the Irish market, announced earlier this week that they are to stop trading and will no longer provide any news loans.

Following this announcement, MABS would like to remind people that other options are available, and we are here to help.

Michelle O’Hara, Regional Manager, MABS South Leinster, said, “we [MABS] recognise that regulated moneylenders have a limited place. However, they should not be considered a long-term solution. We know of cases where the lack of options can lead to people accessing high-cost credit. It can result in a spiral of debt for families who may feel they have no other choice.
